AREA INFO
Cheboygan, Michigan
was at one time a
major port on the
Great Lakes, serving
the boating industry and
becoming a coast
guard station.
Today, this small
town’s location
along the banks of
the Cheboygan River
near Lake Michigan,
Lake Huron and Mullett Lake is a
major tourist
attraction. It is
located 16 miles
southeast of
Mackinac Bridge along the
coast of Lake Huron. It serves as
the gateway to a
chain of lakes, and
is a very popular
spot with boaters.
Cheboygan has a
lighthouse, beach, drawbridge and
several marinas,
making it a
photographer’s
delight. Other
activities include
fishing, hunting,
hiking, biking,
camping and golf.
Lots of fluffy white
snow in wintertime
entices visitors to
this harbor town for
cross-country
skiing,
snowmobiling,
ice-skating and ice
fishing. Downhill
skiing is only a 45
minute drive to
Nub’s Nob and Boyne
Highlands. Cheboygan
has ample lodging
choices, shops and
restaurants, and is
a short distance to
all the northern
Michigan tourist
attractions,
including Mackinaw
Island.
